It’s been said that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. But a sad reality is that when the tough get going, the going can get even tougher. When we face life’s many trials, we have a choice to respond in several ways; some are helpful, some neutral, and some destructive. The good news is we do have a choice in how to respond to life’s tragedies and trials.
The best-equipped people, who not only endure hardships but also thrive in the face of adversity, are those who truly live their daily lives with a healthy eternal perspective. Living life in light of eternity has become diametrically opposed to the liberal-minded, self-serving lifestyle of immediate gratification and comfort over freedom and faith. If properly equipped, we will not be quick to surrender as a victim to life’s many trials. But making the journey productive and worthwhile—that’s the real challenge!
