The Bill of Rights was a mandatory addition to the Constitution in the eyes of the Anti-federalists who saw big government as the greatest threat to American freedom. It’s no coincidence that the First Amendment guarantees free speech, freedom of religion, and a right to peacefully protest injustices against the individual without retribution from government.
In 2022, however, the first article to the Bill of Rights is being decimated, leading to a total annulment of the Constitution. If we forsake the First Amendment, we also forfeit our freedom. This is not a threat, but a fact of life. In no uncertain terms, America lives and breathes the First Amendment.
We mustn’t ever make the mistake of believing that the Bill of Rights is arbitrary. It is a prerequisite to sustaining a free state, simply because of an innate human nature that naturally craves power and wealth. Given the opportunity, any ruling power will take advantage of those within its domain. For this reason, our wise predecessors penned the document which assures protection of what God endowed those created in His image.
